IELTS writing 2 topic about responsible tourism

"In recent years, ‘responsible tourists’ have paid attention to preserving both the culture and the environment of the places that they visit. However, some people say it is impossible to be a ‘responsible tourist’.

To what extent do you agree with this opinion?"

Essay by G..Gileva:

It is true that many people today are concerned with the environmental and cultural footprints they leave when visiting places around the world. I strongly believe that it is possible to be a responsible tourist by following certain rules during your trip.

Responsible tourism is possible when conscious travelers minimize the environmental harm done to the places that they visit. This cannot be achieved by simply not dropping litter (though this is a good starting point for many tourists), but rather by following all rules customary to the particular country, town, or territory. For instance, if recycling is common there, then the visitor is morally obligated to properly dispose of their waste using the provided infrastructure, just as any other responsible citizen would.

Points to consider:

Travel is becoming more and more affordable for people from all walks of life.

responsible tourism is a possible solution to the problems posed by the omnipresent availability of cheap travelling.

Responsible tourists support local culture by actively immersing themselves in it – trying national food, etc. A responsible tourist understands that their financial support is essential for most places they visit – paying fees, buying souvenirs etc. This money can then be reinvested in maintaining the infrastructure, as well as creating new facilities to attract more visitors.
